FENWICK'S FIRST MACH POINTS!
PAC AKC Trial - Canby, OR
June 14-15th, 2008
Fenwick and I seem to have developed a jumpers curse! Well, not really a curse, as in general I KNOW why we mess up ... the handler is not really focused on the course! I'll admit, I don't take jumpers very seriously, especially with some of the more simplistic AKC courses ... then I just do stupid things. But this time it wasn't me for once - Fenwick dropped an uncharacteristic bar on Saturday, but we finally managed to bring it together on Sunday for another jumpers Q. Still need one more though! We'll see how long it takes ...
Fenwick did have a lovely standard run on Saturday for his first Excellent B run, winning the class for his first MACH points (that I doubt we'll ever see, but hey!). His handler seemed to be thinking she was running London on Sunday in standard though, and pulled him off and pushed him into things she did not intend! Someday maybe she will learn.
I always have fun playing with my Fenwick, win or lose - I love the Fen!

FENWICK AX!
GSDCA AKC Trial - Canby, OR
May 31st, 2008
Our odd spring continues after our last 90 degree trial we ended up getting rained out on Sunday for this trial. But Saturday was lovely, so we'll take what we can get! This was Fenwick's first outdoor trial since last summer, and he was rolling around on the start line - took him a bit to get into the game. Outside agility is a novel concept in Oregon! But Fenwick pulled through to finish up his AX title. His jumpers run was nice ... but the handling left something to be desired. ;-)
So hoping the weather is better for the next outdoor trial later this week!

FENWICK the GAMES MASTER
Fleet Feet USDAA DAM Team Trial - Turner, OR
May 17-18th, 2008
Oh, poor little Fenny - he was just dying in the heat this weekend! Even resting is his crate he was panting like a steam engine. The weird spring heat wave just took him completely off guard. Naturally, we're back in the 50s this week, but the mid-90's over the weekend was just killer!
Fenwick was still loving his agility though, and with a lot of hosing and dunking him in the pool he made it through the weekend. Actually, he did great, he has such a huge heart, that one. Fenwick's team, "Fiztastic" with Izzy and Zorro came in a respectable 10th!
The funniest part of the weekend was Fenwick winning both team gamblers and snooker of all things. And Fenwick and London were the only dogs in the trial to get all 59 points in snooker! How does that happen? Proof that maybe I should just run my own dog and finish that last super Q one of these days. It's not that we CAN'T do it ... I just don't like it!
Fenwick also won the Grand Prix, so a good weekend for my little guy despite the heat. We're really cutting back on his regional schedule, so hopefully he will have fun without getting fried in June!

FENWICK in EXCELLENT!
American Whippet Club AKC Trial - Albany, OR
April 19-20th, 2008
Fenwick's first full weekend in Excellent, it was fun to run both dogs on the same courses. Sometimes that came in handy ... sometimes it screwed me up! Fenwick and I had a great time either way, I love being able to run with him more often!

FENWICK WINS THE GRAND PRIX!
RAT USDAA Trial - Elma, WA
April 12-13th, 2008
Fenwick seems to have good luck at this trial, and once again he ended up winning the Grand Prix for the 3rd year in a row! We had a super fun weekend, and Fenwick stayed focused and happy all the way to the end. He ended up winning both standard classes and the grand prix, came in second in jumpers and also picked up a snooker Q with Barbara for their first run ever together.
Always love to play with my Fenwick!

FENWICK MOVES TO EXCELLENT!
PAC AKC Trial - Canby, OR
March 22-23rd, 2008
Fenwick finished up his Open titles and moved up into Excellent this weekend. How much fun to run both my boys in AKC now - really enjoying it! Runnin Fenwick is just so easy - we need no practice, I never have to think about it ... it just happens. Fenwick barks, I smile, he's awesome. His sit on table still needs work though - hard to unprogram 7 years of an auto-down table! Unfortunately while waiting for our final run Fenwick hurt his hip some how and started yelping and crying. Not sure what happened, but after a massage and a rest he seems to be moving and jumping normally. We're going to take it easy for a while and make sure it wasn't anything more serious though.

HIGH in TRIAL FENWICK
CRAC AKC Trial - Albany, OR
March 14-16th, 2008
Fenwick had his second AKC trial and ended up going 7 for 7, earning his novice titles and going "High Non-Sporting Breed in Trial" both days. Seemed like cheating considering we're in novice, but just one more leg in each and he'll be in Excellent and I'll feel less like a ringer. We certainly enjoyed our trip back down to novice though, I really just love being able to run my fabulous little guy! The two runs a day have just been perfect for him, not overstimulated at all over the weekend. Very proud of him!

FENWICK the TOOTHLESS WONDER
WAG USDAA Trial - Corvallis, OR
March 8th, 2008
Fenwick ended up having some emergency dental work a couple days before this trial, removing a broken molar. I wasn't sure if he was going to run, but he was more than ready for action! We just did the one day of the trial, since Corvallis is quite the drive. Fenwick won standard, jumpers and steeplechase. His gamblers run was lovely ... except for that backjump. Heh - it's always something!
Just really love spending time with my Fenwick, we had a total blast!

AKC FENWICK
Mt. Hood Doberman Club - Vancouver, WA
February 2-3rd, 2008
Fenwick has had his AKC ILP for years, but as his actual history is unknown being a rescue I kept waiting for the AKC to open up to all dogs. However, Fenwick is getting older and local USDAA trials are getting to be few and far between. Fenwick's last trial was last October and I really missed running my dog, so I decided to enter Fenwick and see how it went.
We had a blast! It was really novel to run Fenwick on the big ol' open baby dog courses - and he even sat on the table. It was even sort of cute when he needed 3 tries to do 6 weaves for one run - never take anything for granted!
So we'll keep with the AKC thing, it really is such a nice venue for Fenwick who has never done well with the many runs over USDAA weekends.
